In 1993, following twelve years as a full-time worship pastor, I joined the faculty at Canadian Nazarene College, now Ambrose University. Currently, I chair the music department, and, in addition to my administrative duties, I teach a number of courses, including music history, music appreciation for non-music majors, conducting, music practicums, and the history of music and worship. I conduct Chamber Singers, a select chamber choir, and Ambrose Community Singers, a collaborative choir that includes both Ambrose students and a large number of community singers.

My choirs have participated in many Canadian tours and seven international tours to countries such as Costa Rica, England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, and Hungary. Most recently, in May 2011, I led Chamber Singers on a tour to Italy, where they visited a number of cities and participated in a Sacred Choral Festival in Venice. One of the highlights of the trip was singing a Palestrina composition in Palestrina Cathedral. To make it even more exciting, one of our students was the student conductor! It was a wonderful example of integrated learning.

I am the founding director of Ambrose Community Singers and Ambrose Chamber Orchestra. I coordinate the annual Ambrose Chamber Choir Collaboration, an event which joins a number of high school choirs with the Ambrose Chamber Singers. My professional activities focus on choral and instrumental concerts, study/choir tours, and inquiries surrounding the impact of culture on Christian music and choral music, in particular.

I am married to Brenda and have two adult children, Matthew and Natasha.  I attend Skyview Community Church in Calgary.
